SALARY:  £10-15 per hour DOE
Summary of Responsibility
To create access routes to/from site, lay foundations and construct drainage system for all projects.
Main Tasks/Responsibilities

  • Digging and excavation of foundations and trenches to required depth
  • Pour, lay and/or excavate footings/concrete to make foundations, beams and floors
  • Installing foul water drainage to foul sewer/the boundary for road connection by others/install septic tank/cesspool/mini sewage treatment plant. Install and lay any weeper drainage or outlets.
  • Construct soakaways and connect surface water drains,
  • To operate and maintain Plant machinery and other equipment safely, legally and efficiently and report any defects immediately
  • To level and set out areas prior to commencement of works
  • To have an understanding of steelfixing, concrete placing, compacting and finishing
  • To erect and dismantle working platforms
  • Erection and maintenance of security fencing, barriers, safety signs and other appropriate signage as instructed
  • To recognise, understand and be able to interpret the necessary consents and permits required on site
  • To check the location of underground or overhead services prior to starting work
  • To load and unload materials and equipment and move it around the site as appropriate
  • To excavate or grade muck, stone or similar material to the correct level and alignment
  • To carry out all duties in accordance with safety legislation, regulations and codes of practice
  • To ensure that deadlines are met and progress is reported to a Supervisor/Engineer on a regular basis
  • To install and maintain surfaces, roads, pathways, slabs, flagstones, kerbs etc in line with drawings and specifications as set out by Engineers
  • To level sand, asphalt, gravel and clay to build and maintain surfaces
  • Knowledge and understanding of appropriate materials to be used on site
  • Ability to communicate with other operatives in order to achieve task aims
  • Create entry to and clear site on arrival/departure

  • Educated to GCSE Level


  • Ability to work quickly and pay attention to detail
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • Flexibility and a willingness to work overtime when required
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Fluency in the English language
  • A level of physical fitness is essential to the requirements of this role
